Frequently asked questions

Yes, we see the value in completing sessions at school and will do this when we can! However, each school has their own policies on therapy sessions held at school, which we adhere to. If you would be interested in school sessions, please confirm with your child’s school first.

Yes, physiotherapy can play a crucial role in managing pain for individuals with disabilities. Our physiotherapists are trained to assess and treat various types of pain through tailored exercise programs, manual therapy techniques, and education on self-management strategies.

Our physiotherapists can assess your mobility needs and recommend appropriate aids or equipment to improve your independence and quality of life. This may include mobility aids such as walking frames, wheelchairs, or orthoses, which can be funded through your NDIS plan if deemed necessary. Additionally physios can recommend exercise equipment to assist your rehab journey and staying healthy!

Absolutely. Our physiotherapists are skilled in designing exercises and interventions to enhance balance, coordination, and overall functional mobility. Through targeted interventions, we aim to optimise your physical abilities and reduce the risk of falls or accidents.

We understand the importance of having a clinic space and are planning on opening a therapy clinic in the future! However, we do not have a clinic available as of now and are focusing on providing therapy in a naturalistic setting. In the meantime, we may be able to host an initial meeting in our office building, in Eight Mile Plains. Please contact us if you would like to discuss further.

We see the value in face to face sessions in a naturalistic setting (which is  why we are a mobile service) but understand this isn’t always accessible to everyone. Telehealth may be an option for participants that have the capacity to engage in online sessions! Eligibility will depend  on a range of factors, including: reliable internet connection, capacity to virtually engage and having a functional computer/ laptop or mobile device. Please contact us to see if this can be accommodated for your session!

Yes, our physios can prescribe orthotics devices to support, align, prevent, or correct irregularities, assisting with function of movement. Devices can include: ankle foot orthosis, knee braces, splints and more!

Yes, it can. Our phsyios commonly see participants with a variety of psychosocial diagnoses including: anxiety, depression, intellectual disabilities, ASD, ADHD and much more. Physiotherapy has been shown to effectively assist with all of these!

A Home Care Package is a government-funded program designed to support older Australians who wish to remain living at home. It provides funding for various services, including physiotherapy, to assist with daily living activities and improve overall health and well-being.
Physiotherapy can play a vital role in enhancing mobility, strength, and balance for individuals with a Home Care Package. Our physiotherapists develop personalised treatment plans to address specific needs, helping to reduce pain, prevent falls, and promote independence in daily activities.
To access our physiotherapy services, you can contact your Home Care Package provider and request physiotherapy support. They will help coordinate your care with our team at Amend Rehab. If you’re unsure how to proceed, feel free to reach out to us directly for guidance!

Challenges Without In-Home Mobile Physiotherapy

If you are unsure whether your NDIS or Home Care Package funding supports physiotherapy services, we can help. NDIS funding under the “improved health and well-being” and/or “improved daily living” categories of your capacity-building support budget can be used to access allied health services. Contact us with your NDIS plan, and we can help you understand your funding.

Access to consistent and effective physiotherapy is crucial for individuals living with disabilities, especially for those participants in the NDIS or persons with a Home Care Package. Without the option of in-home mobile physiotherapy in Brisbane, several significant challenges can arise, impacting the participant’s rehabilitation and overall quality of life.

  • Limited Access to Care: Traveling to a physiotherapy clinic can be a significant barrier for many participants, especially those with severe mobility issues. This can result in infrequent sessions, limiting access to specialised care and delaying recovery.
  • Transportation Stress: The logistics of arranging transportation can add unnecessary stress and discomfort, particularly for those with severe disabilities. This can exacerbate existing conditions and deter participants from seeking regular treatment.
  • Discontinuity in Care: Consistency is key in physiotherapy. Without regular sessions, participants may experience a discontinuity in care, leading to setbacks in progress and prolonged recovery times.
  • Social Isolation: For many individuals with disabilities, leaving the house can be a significant undertaking. Lack of access to in-home services can contribute to feelings of isolation and loneliness. Brisbane NDIS participants may miss out on the social interaction that comes with visiting a clinic.
  • Personalised Care: Our in-home Brisbane physiotherapy service allows therapists to tailor sessions based on the participant’s home environment, promoting practical and applicable exercises. Without this, participants may find it challenging to translate clinic-based exercises to their daily lives.

What our Mobile and
In-Home Physiotherapy Session Consists Of

Amend Rehab’s in-home physiotherapy sessions are meticulously designed to cater to the unique needs of each participant, ensuring a holistic approach to rehabilitation and care. Here’s a closer look at what participants can expect during a session

Each session begins with a comprehensive assessment to evaluate the participant’s current condition, challenges, and progress. This allows the physiotherapist to tailor the session to address specific needs and goals effectively.

Based on the assessment, the physiotherapist will implement a set of exercises tailored to improve the participant’s mobility, strength, and independence. These exercises are designed to be safe, effective, and achievable within the participant’s own environment. Physios will work closely with the participant’s support team to ensure safe prescription and completion of a personalised home exercise program

Beyond exercises, sessions may include a variety of therapeutic techniques such as manual therapy, massage, electrical situation (e-stim), and mobility training. These techniques are selected to alleviate pain, improve range of motion, and enhance overall physical function.

A key component of each session is education. Our physiotherapists provide valuable insights into the participant’s condition, offering advice on managing symptoms, preventing future injuries, creating meaningful goals and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This educational support empowers participants to take an active role in their rehabilitation.

To ensure continuous progress, participants are provided with a customised home exercise program. This program is designed to complement in-session therapies and encourage daily practice, fostering independence and long-term improvements.

Regular sessions include monitoring and evaluation of the participant’s progress. This allows for adjustments to the therapy plan, ensuring that the participant remains on track to achieve their rehabilitation goals.
